ARBITRATION COURT.
CASTLECLIFF STRIKE OASES. (DI TELKG U A I'll- -PitESS ASSOCIATION.) . Wanganul, September 23. At to-day s sittings of tho Arbitration Court Mr. Maekay raised a fresh contention in reference to tho Castlecliff striko cases. Ho pointed out that the registration of the Waliganui Meat Workers' Union had been cancelled in February, 1906, and a now union formed in July of tho samo year. Tho union having becomo defunct tho union had ceased to exist, and the formation'of a new union had not revived it, There being no award, it v/a's no offentt) to strike. His Honour observed that if tho facts wero as. Btatcd there seemed littlo doubt but . that tho'cases fell to the ground. Mr. Hutton, for tho Labour Dopartmfent, stated that tho point raised by Mr. Maekay had taken him by surprise, and he asked for time to telegraph to Wellington and ascertain whether the registration had lu.m properly cancelled. To this the Court agreed, ami dm eases wero further adjourned till to-roo-rnw at 10 a.m.
