It' was agreed .that it - was impossible to conduct business in view of . tho present unsatisfactory state.of -Maori Township legislation, and tho council. resolved "That in the event of no:legislation being forthcoming this session, that tho Taumarunui.Nativo Township Council shut down., most- of the business, leaving the funds to increaso until sufficient money can be obtained to strike'a balanco, and as soon as this? is done that tho 'council resign in a body." - - . The' Taumarmyii' hockey team : has just roturned' ffoiii ah • enjoyable match trip through the Waikato and Auckland.' Considerable progress is being mado with tho Main-Trunk Railway works. The -preparafcion of tho Kakahi township site is goin" ahead at present.
