FRUIT BROKERS' CONFERENCES.
' Several meetings were held in Wellington yesterday by delegates of tho fruit'brokers of Wellington,' Dunedin, and (later) to discuss the fruit-flv legislation as affecting the Island trade,'and the questions of "ship; ping companies and short-landed fruit." ''railway charges on imported fruit," and other matters.' Most of tho meetings were private. A further private meeting will bo held this morning, and at a time convenient to the Premier the delegates will seek to interview ;him on matters affecting their calling. The delegates in town yesterday were from Wellington, Dunedin, Invercargill, and' Auckland.' The Christchurch men are due to-day.
