AN OVERDUE VESSEL.
«- 1 SEARCH FOR. THE LOCH LOMOND WANTED. (BV TELEGRAPH —rUE 33 ASSOCIATION.) Auckland, September 18. Relatives of some of the crew of tlie barque Loch Lomond (Captain J. Thompson),' 64 days out from Newcastle to Lyttelton, have been in. communication with tlie : Union Company and the Marine Department, urging that the Hinemoa or other steamers should search south-west of New Zealand and the Southern depots. ' ' ' The Secretary for Marino replied that the Hinemoa does not visit the Southern Islands until January, and it is not -likely, the Loch Lomond got to the Southern Islands. Sir -Jame3 Mills,- the manager of tho Union .Company, states that the company's coastal arid intercolonial steamers are keeping a ; look-oiit for missing vessels and deviating fr.om the usual course. • ■ The latest telegram to the Minister is'as follows boats are unlikely to see the Loch Lomdnd till the need for help is past; Consider' that in 1 view' of expert opinion'.the searcii'-should bo mado of the Southern- Islands .or the depot's visited." '. HINEMOA ' TO SEARCH. At the request of a-number of Auckland residents Mr. A. Kidd, M.P., waited upon the Minister for Marine yesterday with a request that -tho s.s. Hinemoa' bo sent 'to search for the vessel. Tho Minister stated that the Hinemoa would be directed to visit the Snares, the Traps, and the - Solander Islands, and generally to keep a sharp lookout for tho missing. vessel.
