Thompson),' 64 days out from Newcastle to Lyttelton, have been in. communication with tlie : Union Company and the Marine Department, urging that the Hinemoa or other steamers should search south-west of New Zealand and the Southern depots. ' ' ' The Secretary for Marino replied that the Hinemoa does not visit the Southern Islands until January, and it is not -likely, the Loch Lomond got to the Southern Islands.
