The steeplechaser.Pilot was shipped to Syd- a iu3y ; bj : the Ulimaroa- yesterday. evening.; t

At a meeting of the stewards of the Taranaki Jockey Club, held. last Tuesday even* ing, tho trainer's license issued to C. H. Parker was cancelled. The New Zealand Cup candidates, Tiptoe . and Mallet, are both in constant work at Hawera. Tho former is not shapiug too satisfactorily on tbe. track, but Mallet is doing all that is asked of him. . ' King Po?t did" not make thc\trip to the Avondale meeting. His next appcaranco will probably be at. the Hawke's Bay Jockoy Club's meeting, where ho has been entered .. for a mile race each day. The Dunedin . trainer, E. M'Lcan, is now in charge of tho Seaton Dolaval gelding. • Mr. H.' Gaisford's two-year-old colt, by Menschikoff—Armilla will be taken to Wanganui to-day with the other members of the Porirua team so that ho may become accustomed to the travelling. All going well he will be a competitor.in the Hastings Stakes at tho Hawke's Bay Jockey Club's meeting " next month. The old-time horseman R. Derrett was on i the back of Roso Noble, when the Medallion ; horse won at tho Ashburton meeting on t Wednesday last. ■ Polymorphous, the two-year-old colt, bj Multiform—Rumour in Alf. Shearsby's. stable, still remains in the First" Manawatu Sires' Produce Stakes, and he will most likely make his first public appearance in that event in December next. : The stewards of the Waikanac Racing Club ". held, a meeting last week to discuss pre--3. liminary arrangements in connection with ■ their next annual race meeting. The club • has already received promise of good support froni'owners for the next fixture. , Harry Cutts arrives from the Sonth this' , morning with Sir George Clifford's team for , the "W an ganui meeting, and will proceed - north by tho mail train. t 'Count Witte, one of tho horses disposed ' of at tho'Yaldhurst sale, raced in the name ' ,of Mr. A; M'Farlane at the Ashburton ineefc- ' .ing.. ; .. . ' Four of Sir George Clifford's mares ara , among, the number booked to tho Waikanae . sire Kilclieran this season. » The Auckland lightweight jockey, A. Whit-, ' taker, who returned from Sydney on Monday last, rode five winners .during his stay in ! Australia. > The . two-year-old colt St. Felix, by St. Ambrose—Fanna, which has been showing excellent form on tho tracks at'lliccarton, • i recently contracted a cold, and has had to ■ .bo eased in his work. • Mr. Geo. Payno will probably leave for j. Sydney next week, and will thus be in time . to witness the first day's racing at the Aus- , . tralian Jockoy. Club's Spring meeting. In ithe race' cards for their recent meeting, )" tho Ashburton County Racing Club had an extra -page inserted, on which to record | wagers.- It would he a convenience to tho | public if all tho racing clubs followed suit in ! ''this matter. i • ; Tho Soult mare Kitchenmaid, who was sent ~ to Stonyhurst in August, is to bo mated with Cannie Chiel, not Clanranald. The Takapuna Jockey Club has re-ap-pointed vMr. Geo. Morse, as handicapper for tho coming season, and Mr. C. O'Connor as starter. ... , - . ■W. Davies will take Seaman through to . Wanganui on Monday. The Sylvia Park gelding is engaged in the principal flat face on each day of- the meeting. It would appear as if some of tho smaller ■ racing clubs do not thoroughly understand the rules relating to the Unpaid Forfeit List. At several meetings recently horses, whose owners' names appear on the Forfeit List, have been entered for and competed in several races. Should any of. these horses not qiialified to run in a race succeed in winning any event it would doubtless lead to a protest and subsequent disqualification. To avoid any such happening secretaries of clubs should have a look over the Unpaid Forfeit List, at the timo of nominations. , . ' V One ■ of."the Shorn" writes:—"l was very "■ pleased to road in -this morning's Dominion your remarks : regarding the practice adopted hy certain racing clubs of not paying of ono shilling in dividends. It is about time that the Racing Conference took this matter up and gavo the clubs, who violate tli'e rules quoted by you, to understand that unless they comply they will not be granted totalisator permits in future. The sporting public liave a-right to be protected in this matter, and now that attention . has been drawn to the abuse I trust you will see it rectified. At Levin recently no fraction of one-shilling was paid during tho two-days' -meeting." .
