A PROFIT OF £1000.

■THE BRITISH FOOTBALLERS. FINANCIAL RESULTS OF TOUR. AUSTRALIAN AND NEW, ZEALAND . GATES. The approximate figures in connection with the recent tour of the Anglo-Welsh Rugby football .team were made available at the conclusion of last evening's meeting of tho New Zealand Rugby Union, held in the office of the secretary (Mr. J. D. Avery). The total receipts from all matches played in the Dominion amounted to £11,400, and the expenses (including fares to and from and to Australia) amounted to about £11,600, roughly a loss of £200. ' At tho oonclusion of the Now Zealand tour the team proceeded to Australia, where nine matches wore played, resulting in a profit to the New Zealand Rugby Union (undor whose auspices tho team visited tho Commonwealth) of about £1200, which will account for a net profit of £1000 to the union on' the whole tour. That money will in due course be distributed amongst the various district unions affiliated to the central body. As the New Zealand tour was debited with all the'initial heavy expenses, the officials of tho nnion weie not surprised at tho loss sustained, but a bettor return was expected from the matches jilaycd in Sydney, where tho attendance suffered owing to tho bad weather experienced. ■ The nine matches played in the Commonwealth only yielded £1200 clear profit, whilst in 1904, when the New South Wales' Rugby Union sent tho visiting English team to Now Zealand only five matches were played, and the New South Wales Union bohefited to the tune of £1500.
