.-./: A preliminary meeting was held at Godber's last evening, m connection with tho formation of a New Zealand Natives'-As-sdciation,■■Dr. F. AY. Mackenzio being in the "chair. Tho idea is to inculcate a national spirit in- all native-born New "Zealanders. ]. lie-principal feature of tho association is that it is national in character. Within its 'ranks : New Zedlailders can meet on an equal footing to oxchango ideas and gather information regarding all question's affecting themselves 'and their country.' Consequently, its chief objects are to fosteiwiir'the breasts or. 1 j the New ■Zcalimd-bom a sincere love, for his 'laud,- tho encouragement and' rocog-'i ci ■nition of a higli standard of lifo and living, 'and-the stimulation of local industries, literastiire; art, science, and for'mutual influence and assistance.- Tho late Mr. H. D. Crawford" was the originator, and lie first brought . tho matter up ; about two years ago. , . On tho motion of Mr. C. W.
