(nv TEi.EOßirn.—srrcui. coriitEsroKDENT.) ■ Ekctahuna, September 15. A chop occupied by Mr. A. J. Gordon, saddler, and owned by Mr. T. G. M'Carthy,' of Wellington, was totally destroyed by lira at 'Alfredton at 8.30 p.m. on, Monday," during the temporary absence of tho'occupier. Nothing was saved. No cause is assigned for the outbreak. Mr. Gordons stock and tools woro insured for £150, and • it is believed that the building was also'insured. " A fire in a five-roomed dwelling;" N6.' 70 Taranaki Street, at 11.15 yesterday iViorning, damaged a bed and some beddins before the brigade got the (lames under. The contents of, tho .liouse, which was occupied'by, Mr. D. Logan, were damaged by heat and smoke.
