The German Chancellor (Prince von Bulow), ia an interview given to a " Standard '' correspondent, ridiculed tho idea of naval rivalry, and. declared that it was sheer nonsense to say that Germany considered England's naval supremacy an obstacle to Gormany's ambitions. y "A' SETTLED CONVICTION." In an interview, Sir Hector Carruthers, ex-Premier of New South Wales, said:— "There is strong apprehension that Germany's intentions towards Britain aro not friendly,-but'naval and military men told mo that, whatever might actually happen, there was a growing danger of the biggest war soaro in England of our time.". It might not lead to war, said Sir Hector, but Germany had designs on England waß tho settled conviction of a largo body of public. opinion.
