LABOUR AND THE ARBITRATION COURT.

The Southland Sawmillers' Union on Saturday night declined to endorse the Canterbury Trades and Labour Council's resolutions regarding tho removal of Mr. Justice Sim from the Arbitration Court bench, but expressed sympathy with tho farm labourers, approved of Mr. M'Cullough's minority report, and passed, a resolution favouring legislation to compel the Court to mako an award in auy disputo boforo it. The striko of the sawmjllers' award was strongly resented, and 'it was resolved to urge tho Government to take, from tho Court the power to insert a provision not asked for by either party to a dispute. Dunetfin, September 14. At a meeting of tho Waterside Workers' Union to-night & resolution was passed to the effect that the union has no faith in tho Arbitration Court as at present constituted, and asks lor l<?io removal of Mr. Justice Sim. A motion was carried sympathising with the Canterbury farm labourers in not receiviii.j an award from, tho Court, and congratulating Mr. M'Cullough on tho stand he took.
