Friends of L. H. Hewitt will be' pleased to read tho cable in this issuo announcing a double success for the New Zealand jockey at the Doncaster meeting. -.Mr. L. Neumann, for whom Hewitt does a good deal of riding, had several horses engaged at the Doncaster meeting, and it is probable that Hewitt's victories were secured on some of these. The Karamu cast-off Eriiiius is engaged hi a . maiden race at the Ashburton meeting tomorrow. The French jockey, Barat, .who has been riding with considerable success during the present season, is said to be the most accomplished horseman that has ever graced the saddle in France. - : Entries for the Stewards' Handicap at the Canterbury Jockey Club's meeting close on Friday next.
