THE TAILORS' DISPUTE.
Sir, —In your report of tlio Arbitrator Court proceedings regarding tailors' dispute a statement is recorded from Percy Gunner an apprentico to tlio trade, who states that "when in Mr. Rogers's shop no weekly man had been employed to teach him the trade.' : He also stated that ho did all tlio pressing for the girls, and he was not being taught the trade. Now, sir, in justification of myself and for the edification of those concerned,»l will briefly disclose the fact of his "terms" whilst in my employ. Ho was .witli mo for about 14 months, and to begin will: knoiv practically nothing of tlio trade. 1 placed him under my own supervision aud initiated him into making small jobs, viz., trousers and vests, and during the latter part of his term' ho worked on sac coats, anc turned out a fairly decent job, which goes tc show conclusively that his trade tuition was not neglected. He did a vory moderate proportion of pressing, as I had two hands in bujsy timo pressing at Is. an hour. You may also infer from his remarks that only girls were omployod. I have threo journeymen constantly at work, and more on seasonable occasions. Furthor comment is needless.—l am, etc., GEORGE ROGERS. Septenibcr 11.
