RIFLE SHOOTING.
EMPIRE POSTAL MATCH. TO BE FIRED ON WEDNESDAY.The annual rifle match between the Post Offices in all parts of the British Empire will be fired on Wednesday next, Septcmboi 16, firing commencing at 2 p.m. This match was lirst fired in September, 1906, when teams from London, Sydnoy, Melbourne, and Wellington took part, Melbourne finishing on top with a score of 891, Sydney, London, and Wellington coming next in that order. In September, 1907, the above teams also .competed, .finishing in the follp,wing ;! . tJ , Order Sydney, 900; Melbourne, 890; Welr.u!.-, : 'liifpftoh, 838, and London, 836. . V. 'r,- ~ t This year, in addition to the teams mentioned, it is expected that Canada,. Cape Colony, Natal, South Australia, and' Transvaal will also.be represented. In future the match will be fired annually, when it-is hoped that every colony will furnish a team.- Aa soon as the match is* finished each team is •to 'be advised by cable of the scores made by its-opponents. ■ Tho-conditions are:—Teams to consist of ten inen eaclit'(all to count) ; two sighters and seven shots at 200, 500, and 600 yards; Bisley targets. ; THE WELLINGTON TEAM. ... The Wellington team will bo chosen from tho following Captain Harton, Lieutenant Collins, Lieutenant Bolton, Sergeant Wakelin, Sergeant Eagles, Sergeant Gilbert, Corporal H. D.-Smith, Corporal Williamson, Private Churches, Private Hamilton, Private Jones, Private W. A. Smith. Captain Turner will superintend at the fi.ring point and Stafi-Sergeant-Major Rose in tho trenches.
