UNIFORMITY IN SCHOOL BOOKS.
Sir, —Tho Houso of Representative} has reaffirmed the desirableness of an uiiformity in school books. Tho majority of tho education boards of the Dominion, asked by tho Minister for an expression of opinion, declared that uniformity was both desirable and practicable. Tho Minister, for some reason (which is not inexplicable vhen one knowE the particular parties interested in tho constant changes in text-boob), flouts the opinions of tho boards, and practically defies Parliament. As ono who has taken a keen and active interest in securing a reduction of tho cost of school 1 books to those parents who can ill-afford Ac' drain upon their incomes, I should be failing in my duty were I not to express my gratification at the stand taken by Mr. Wilford and others, and my regret that a Mirister who poses as a friend of the working iran should have resisted a demand so intensely earnest and so undoubtedly persistent.—l am, etc., ' ARTHUR H. VILE. September 10.
