THE PRINCESS WHO WOULD.

A recently-published portrait of Princess Amolie, of Fuorstenborg, the wilful young lady who fell in lovo with a chauffeur and insisted on marrying him, shows a pretty sentimental little face, without any indication of depth of character. But according to tlie report of her marriage, she was quite as firm and determined as oven Queon Elizabeth could have boon. Tho wedding of Princess Atnclie, of Fucrstonborg and ox-Lieutenant Gustav Koczian

(now a chauffeur), at Castle Hradek, in Bohemia, last mouth, says the report, was an unusually dramatic and painful ceremony. It appears that the Princcss's family did not abandon their opposition to the marriage, but constantly urged her to break off tho match. The bride's mother made a last frantic appeal at tho altar, and then, when Princess Amelie resolutely refused to stop tho ceremony, fell fainting on the floor of tho chapel. The bride's family wero determined to prevent tho marriago at all costs, and the relatives assembled for that purposo at Hradek Castle, owned by Princo Khevenhueller, a cousin of Princess Amelie. When ex-Lieutenant Koczian arrived ho was only admitted to the castle by tho back door, and immediately conducted into a room where his prospective mothcr-iii-law, tho Dowager Princess of Fuerstenberg, awaited him. She made an impassioned appeal to him to yield to tho wishes of the family, and give up her daughtor. Meanwhile Prince Emil, the bride's brother, was, in another room, trying to persuade Princess Amolie to alter her decision. All appeals wero in vain. Princoss Amelie declared that she would follow the dictates of hor heart, and not tho antiquated feudal traditions of her family. She insisted on the marriago being performed without furthor delay. ■/ The party then proceeded to tho littlo chapel. While the bride and bridegroom wero kneeling in front of the altar, tho Dowager Princess, unabla to restrain her emotion, made the last frantic appeal. Princess Amelie only shook her head, and grasped tho bridegroom's hand. The Dow-

ager Princess then foil to tho floor in a dead faint. Tho official witnesses of tho ceremony, Rittor von Guttenborg and Count Schlick, urged Princess Amolie to give way, and not be tho cause of her mother's death. Princess Amolio showed extraordinary firmness during tho painful incident, and at her dosirc tho ceremony was concluded as rapidly as possible. Tho newly-married couple, who looked radiantly happy, drove away from tho castle soon afterwards. Tho Princess, who is now Fran Koczian, ostentatiously kissed her husband in front of tho crowd which assembled at the castle gates.
