The Earl of Dudley, Governor-General of Australia, who was sworn in in Sydney, was accorded an enthusiastic welcome on arrival in Melbourno. SUVA-HERO COLLISION. (Rec. September 12, 0.20 a.m.) Sydney, September 11. The Court of Mariue inquiry into the collision between the steamer Suva and the tug Hero, off Sydney Heads on August 28, has concluded the taking of tho evidence, and has reserved its decision. A collision occurred off North Hoad, Sydney, early on the morning of August 28, between the A.U.S.N. Company's steel screw steamer Suva, 2229 ton#, built in lOCS, and the iron tug Hero, 161 tons, owned by J. Fenwick and Co. Tho Suva was bound to Nowcastle to bunker, and the tug was inward bound. Both woro badly damaged. The Suva was struck on tho port side, and a hole six feet in length and eighteen inches in depth was cut just below deck level. Several platos below tho waterline wero damaged and the rivets started. The Suva's pumps kept a hoavy inrush of water down (Jill the steamer reached the wharf.
