Mr. W. E. Pearson, who has been seriously ill, has almost recovered. The Rev. J. Vosper, vicar of Johnsonville, left for the South last night, and expects to be away about two weeks. Miss C. W. Christie, sectional organiser of the Theosopbieal Society, leaves on Wednesday on a lecturing tour in Wairarapa and Hawko's Bay. Supremo Court in its criminal and civil jurisdiction. Mr. John Duncan, of Levin and Co., was among tho passengers by the Warrimoo, which left for Sydney yesterday afternoon. Mr. Duncan intends spending a month's holiday in Australia. According to a letter received in Wellington, Madame Molba is to leave London for America on December 5. After the grand opera season in New York she will proceed to Australia on an extended concert tour. A Napier Press Association telegram states that a very old colonist, Mrs. Elizabeth Hallett, died at Taradale, aged 97. Deceased arrived in 1842, and with her husband passed through tho trying times of the pioneers. Tho statement published yesterday to tho effect that it was understood that Dr. Elizabeth Gunn, of this city, would take up the practice of Dr. Dawson, of Tenui, is quite unfounded. Dr. Elizabeth Gunn haß no intention of relinquishing her Wellington practice. Miss Mina Caldow, tho well-known Welling-; ton' contralto singer, returned to. Wellington by the Arahura yesterday from .Wcstport, where she had been engaged as one of tho principals in the Wcstport Liedertafel concert. Miss Caldow created a very favourable impression, her songs being most successfully rendered, Mr. F. E. Donne, of,tho Tourist Department, ■ has received a communication from tho Parisian firm of Pathe Freres, the famous cinematograph photographers and photo-graph-makers, stating that three of their experts were about to leave Prance, with tho object of visiting New Zealand in search of new sights and sccncs for their cinematograph department. Mr. and Mrs. Mallinson are returning to Napior and Hastings, whero they are to givo six more concerts, and from thero they go to llotorua for several days before giving a series of return recitals at Auckland. They then go down to Christchurch and Dunedin, and leavo for Australia, via tho Bluff. So far, they have given twenty-one concerts in Australasia, and their contract is for fifty. The Wellington staff of Messrs. Joseph Nathan and Co., Ltd., numbering about fifty, gathered together on Thursday evening to wish every happiness to Mr. F. J. Nathan on the occasion of his approaching marriage to Miss Elsie Joseph. Mr. J. J. Reich, in handing Mr. Nathan a gold watch, from tho staff, mentioned that not only had lie to congratulate him' on his marriage, but also on his recently having attained, the important position of director of the company. Iu replying, Mr. Nathan inado' a neat spcech, especially emphasising the fact that it was pleasing to noto the extremo goodwill existing between the members of tho staff and tho directors of tho company. The health of Mr. Nathan and his prospective bride was drunk with much enthusiasm.
