Tho Power Stations and Tramways Committee of tho City Council last night reported . that they had instructed tho city engineer to ' furnish a further report regarding tho Wades- ' town tramway. Councillor fiiss said that they had to givo very careful consideration' to the matter. The r engineer was reporting on a slightly different 1 route. In fact, it was proposed to run tho % Thorndon lino up towards Airs. Rhodcs's. r For some years tho new lino would be certain not to pay, and tho people of 'Wadestown \ would havo to make up the deficiency. ' Councillor Carmichaol said tho people of 0 Wadestown had shown themselves willing to bear any expense—in fact they had on two ° occasions stated their'willingness to make up tho deficiency, and ho certainly thought they 0 should be treated as well as tho other hill ■■suburbs. Councillor Luke said lie" went to Wades- ;* town recently and had an experience similar 6 to that of'other councillors. The people were 0 indignant at tho delay, and ho thought it s just and right to i get tho matter under way. I Tho Mayor alluded to difficulties connected ; with .tho roulo at. present under consideration. The ongirtecr was endeavouring to discover a better route, but had not yet been ablo to do so. Though tho pcoplo were so anxious at 'present, if the tram was constructed along a certain route and.it was t discovered later on that there was a better ... one, they would not bo best pleased with tho ? council., >■ ..
