LIBERAL CANDIDATES. (BY TELEGtIAPII. —SrECIAI COttttESPONDENT.) Auckland, September 10. At the mooting of tho Auckland branch of tho Liberal and Labour Federation last night a member referred "with feelings of tho deepest regret" to the clashing of Liberal candidates for tho forthcoming elections, thoro boing two for tho Central scat and several for Waitcmata, "What hopo of victory," asked tho member, "have any of tho Liberal candidates for Waitcmata ? It is suicidal with ono Opposition candidate standing. If this kind of thing is applied to tho majority of constituencies, _ whero will tho Liberal party bo?" Tho chairman (Mr. P. J. Norhenv) said Mr. Wilding had gono through the ordeal of selection for Waitonuta, and Mr. Nnpior bad not; apart from his selection by tho Devonport branch. At Dovonport it had been wrongly stated that Mr. Napier was tho Government's selection, but tho Govornmont, ho understood, was standing asido in this matter. Mr. .T. E. Fitzgerald. cmulidato for the Wellington Hubtirlw will nddross dectors to-night at tho Parish Hall, Johnsonvillo.
