581 TRLEOKITH. —SPECIAL CORRKSPONDBNT,) Palmerstpn, September 9. A very strong wind was blowing at Ashhurst today. One of the gantries was blown off the Staging of tho new bridge into the river-bed and smashed to matchwood. Three men who wero at work were endangered' by tho accident, but two managed to escape. The third, named John Evans, fell off the staging into tho river. So far as can be ascertained, he sustained no serious injury. Tho gal© was alw severe in Palmerston.
