OPPOSED TO UNIFICATION. (BY TFLEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COFtEIGHT.) London, September 8. At a farewell banquet to Mr. Kidston, Premier of Queensland, thero were many Australians present. Mr, Kidston, responding to the toast- of his health, said that after his English visit ho was more than over opposed to those in Queensland who had been decrying the Old Country. He deprecated the idea of quarrelling with Federation. Australia, ho said, required a strong central Government, but with tho States having financial independence for their development. Ho deprecated any attempt to destroy the Stato Governments.
