A disorderly scene is reported from Newcastle West (County Limerick, Ireland), where considerable friction exists between tlio rural and the urban tenants of the Earl of Devon over the impending salo of the estate of the Earl (who owns Tho Castle, Newcastle West, as well as considerable English property). A meeting of tho United Irish Leaguo was about to bo held, when a body of men from Tommafuilan, stating that Mr, AVilliam O'Brien (Nationalist member of the House of Commons for Cork) disapproved the gathering, demolished tho platform. Mr. T. M. Kettle (Nationalist member for Tyrone East) was thrown down and cut about tho face and kicked. Mr. S. Gwynn (Nationalist member for Galway City) was also assaulted. The police then arrived, and enabled the meeting to proceed. Mr. Kettle, in a speech, said he now half doubted the fitness of the people for Home Rule. He waited Home Rule to bo the rule of reason and argument.
