NAVY LEAGUE.
The monthly - meeting of the Wellington branch, of the Navy ■ League .was held on Fnday, Mr. Laing-Meason presiding over a spjall attendance, ' * ' Various accounts wore passed for payment and the secretary (Mr. O. W. Palmer) reported that eight now mombers had beenenrolled, viz.; Mrs. J. R. Sinclair, Dr. A. Norman : Jones, Messrs. ,Allan Orr, G. G. Hodgkins, J. C. Lewis, G. B. Hull, O. S. .Watkins, -and A' R. -Hislop, jun. The correspondence .received included a letter from a Melbourno resident stating thai the Navy League branch in that city had been closed,-hujt Expressing a hope that, when Lrfrd Dudley arrived, ail attempt would ho. made to' revive it.' . Captain; Hooper wrote thanking the ladies, of 'the loaguo for the trophy presented to the boys of the Amokura. - . A discussion .'took place as to'the best method_ of ..celebrating Trafalgar Day. - At length it. 3as decided to hold cither ,1 cadet parade in the' afternoon or a demonstration in the Concert Chamber of tho Town Hall in the evoning. With reference to a'.letter. received from the commander of H.M.S. Encounter, stating, m reply to inquiry, that New Zealand boys could not enter tho navy, save from one of. the English naval stations, tho secretary w'ns instructed to writo to tho Minister for Marine asking if somo excoption could not 1:« .made in regard to the boys from training ships. '-
