N.Z. SOCIALIST PARTY.

At His Majesty's Theatre last night, Mr. Andrew Gray gave a lecture on "Co-opera-tion," illustrated by an excellent series of lantern slides. Mr." Gray explained tlio methods of tho Rochdale system that had grown to enormous proportions, and pointed out how tho movement v. tending to improve tho workers' conditions, by eliminating sweating from their works and adulteration from their manufactured products. It was also enabling them to obtain a share in tho world's capital, and_ did this almost automatically. The saving through centralised business, and the removal of the necessity to advertise, enabled an\ small shareholder to obtain a share in the capital of the business, which could be withdrawn or left in tho concern at 5 per cent, interest. Loyal support was needed, and this lay mostly with the women. If they would sup. port tho concerns, co-oporativo stores could bo successfully run in the Dominion, and tho community would bo wise to establish th&m in those departments not yet taken up by tlio State.
