The final positions in the counties championship are:—Yorkshire, firstj Kent, second; Surrey, third; Middlesex, fourth; Sussex,, fifth; Worcestershire, sixth; Lancashire, seventh; Notts, eighth. The " Sportsman " says that that A. Marshal, the Qneenslander, has developed into a brilliant player, and is probably tho best all-round man in the Surrey elevon. In the cricket match Yorkshire versus Marylebone, Denton scored 133 and 121. . Denton has batted solidly for Yorkshiro this year, and his double century should lift his average. At last advices from Home he had scored 101S runs with an average of 3i.93. At tho same time ACarshal was eighteenth on the batting averages (1035 runs, average 36.96), and fourteenth among tho bowlers (33 wickets at 17.09 apiece). Tarrant was twelfth among tho batsmen (876 runs, average 39.81), and sevonth among tho bowlers (00 wickets at 15.01 apiece). Tho positions in the county championship last year were:—Notts, first; Worcestershire and Yorkshire, equal, second; Surrey, fourth; Middlesex, fifth; Lancashire, sixth; Essex, seventh; Kent, eighth.
