It has been found necessary to make a few. alterations in tho local teams for tomorrow only as somo of tho players could not get away. . Tho conference to discuss the proposal to form an all New Zealand Ladies Hockey Association will he held at Godber's Rooms, Cuba Street, on Monday night at eigiij o'clock. Delegates from Auckland will arrive on Saturday night, Canterbury delegates arrive this morning, Horowhenua, Otago, kelson, and Wairarapa to-day, and tlioso from Hawke's Bay and Wanganui arrived last night. The Taranaki and Gisborne delegates should arrive on Monday night. It will be made a general meeting, all hockey enthusiasts will bo allowed to be present, but only delegates will bo privileged to vote. Til© question is arousing considerable interest, and it is anticipated that the proposal will be adopted. Tho chief point to be discussed, if the formation of the association is decided upon, will be as to the location of the headquarters, the two most probable places being Wellington and ChristchurQh. As luickey is strongest in the North Island and the northern part of tho South Island, .Wellington should be the most convenient centre; it also suits the West-land people better than Cliristchurch. .. A proposal will be brought forward by the Otago delegates that an international team of English lady hockey players should be induced to pay New Zealand a visit next season, 'this idea is being taken up enthusiastically, and an energetic effort will bo made to secure the desired end.

in connection wit.ii tho tournament, Dr. A. W. Izard, President of tho Wellington Ladies' Hockey Association, has signified his intention of giving aft-ernoon tea to all the visiting teams to-morrow afternoon at Day's Bay. _ . • . As the visitors arrive by train and steamer, they are met by tho local committeo and conducted to tho quarters arranged for them. Most of the girls ato'being accommodated by tho local girls, and no clforts aro being spared to make their stay a pleasant one. An "at home" is being given tho visitors in tho Town Hall on Thursday evening. Tho function will probably end with a dance. Tho Hawke's Bay Association have withdrawn their nomination for a B team in tho Senior championship, owing to a little difference that has arisen between the Huia Club, of Hawke's Bay, and that association. Tho matter was before tho local association last night, and it was agreed that the Hnia Club, which was to have been called tho Hawko's Bay B team, will be allowed to challenge the team having tho byo each day. The Ferry steamers will leave town for the Bay at 1.15 and 2.30 p.m. this afternoon, returning from the Bay at 4.25, 5; and 6 p.m. • TARANAKI v. "WELLINGTON. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Now Plymouth, September 3. j The Taranaki and Wellington hockey representatives met to-day. The ground was in perfect order, and the day was gloriously fine. Tho game was most interesting and exciting at times, the play travelling rapidly up and "down 'the field. AVellington were more accurate in their shooting, and several goals were sa.ved by the narrowest margin, otherwiso tho game was remarkably even. In the first spell both sides had hard luck, Thomson's goal for Taranaki being disallowed for off-side, and Willis, of Wellington, drove over the top of tho cago. In tho second spell, Sargent scored for Taranaki, but tho referee gave no goal. With ono minute to go, Dixon shot fair into Taranaki's goal, and Wellington won by one goal to nil.

HOROWHENUA v. WANGANUI. (BT TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Wanganui, September 3. The Horowhenua representative hockey team was defeated by a local team at Cook's Gardens this afternoon. Although tho score, eight goals to nil, was large, the game was not altogether one-sided. Tho visitors attacked several times, but lost the ball when in tho circle. The Wanganui forwards showed great dash and pace, and made the most of their chances. ' Their half line was weak. Miller, in goal, was brilliant. Tho visitors' forwards lacked combination and bunched too much, thus spoiling one another's chances. Smart, right back, played well. Mr. Wakely made a competent referee.
