A letter loft by deceased stated that he was liable to fivo years' imprisonment for saying things about people, tho names of whom are not mentioned, and the only way out was to commit suicide. A CHILD DROWNED. (nr TELEGRAPH—riIESS ASSOCIATION.) Christchuroh, Septembor 3. Hazel Savage, fifteen months old, was accidentally drowned to-day at Halswell through falling into a creek. The child wandered away from home, and was found in the creek a few minutes lator by her mother.
