Ottawa, September 2. • The greatest rush in the history of Western Canada occurred yesterday for odd number seotions at Begina, Moosejaw, Calgary, Humboldt, Battleford, and Red Deer. The sections thus opened for settlement represent thirty million acres. Homesteaders owning 160 acres were permitted to double their holdings; and nearly every settler availed himself of this" advantage. The Canadian Customs during tho last five months decreased by one and a half million sterling.
