On Friday tho Navua arrives hers from Northern ports, in place of the Talune, which takes the run from Auckland to the Islands, leaving the Northern port to-day. Advice received by tho Union Company reports that the Flora, which has been engaged in the search for the Hawea. left Byron Bay at i p.m. on Saturday, for Wellington direct. A Press Association' message from Christchnrcli, reports that the Union Company's chartered steamer Otterburn, which lett Lyttelton for Picton and Sydney last night, loaded over 30,000 sacks of chalf for Sydney at Lyttelton. J[r. J. Healy, chief engineer of tho turbine steamer Maori, has been granted a month's holiday • leave. Mr. Paterson, chief engineer of the new steamer Waitemata, is' now in charge of the engine-room of the Maori.

Grave fears aro entertained for the safety of the British ship Arno, which was dispatched from Sydney on March 19 last for London (says the Sydney " Commercial News"). A cable message was received some time ago intimating that the Arno safely reached her destination, after a smart passage of T8 days, on June 5. According to letters received at Sydney last week, from Messrs. Devitt and Moore, of London, the Arno had not put in an appearance there up .to July 17. The Arno_ is now five months out, and news of her is being anxiously awaited,

It is reported that tho barque Lady Wolseley has been fixed to load general-cargo at Liver- . pool for Wellington and Dunedin. • Sho is timed to sail on October 20, under the auspices of Messrs. Gracie, Beasley, and Co. The Union Company's steamer Koromiko left' -Westport at one o'clock yesterday morning, for Auckland. The Rosamond was expected to leave Westport at eleven last night for Wellington. Tho ICamona is expected to leave Wellington to-day for New Plymouth and Westport. At 11 p.m. on Monday the Union Company's ' steamer Arahura left Greymoutli for Westport, whero 6ho arrived at 4 a.m. yesterday. , Sha . was fixed to leave Westport at eleven last night for Nelson, Picton, and Wellington, and is duo here about 11 p.m. to-day. According to tho "Otago Daily Times" thebarque Dunloe, which was sold by Messrs. A. H. Turnbull and Company early in. this year, and which has been lying in Sydney Harbour, sinco February 17 last, has again changed hands. She was sold last week to Messrs. James Paterson and Co., of Melbourne. Net profits amounting to £10,239 were earned by the Melbourne Steamship Company, Limited; during tho six months ended"June 30,-1908, as against.£74o6 in the preceding half-year, and«£l2,7pi during the first half of 1907. Adding balance brought forward, ,£1253, the directors had available .£14,492. Dividend, at the rate of 10 per cent, per annum, absorbs ,£7500, and .£2130 is added to the insurance fund, making its total .£12,500, leaving «£i-SGI to be carried forward. The company, has a paid-up capital of .£150,000, a general reserve 0f,.£5000, ana an insurance fund of ,£12,500. ' ;
