TO COME TO CARTERTON. The rumour that Mr. W. Howard Booth, of Carterton, had purchased the Matawhcro Estate, is unconfirmed (writes our Wairarapa correspondent), and it appears that Mr. Booth intends to inn his newly-purchased shorthorn herd from Messrs. M'Masters on his thousand-acre Carrington farm near Carterton. Mr. A. - Hooker, a well-known Taratahi farmer, ( is to be the herdsman. WELLINGTON'S MILK SUPPLY. From Featherston there is already a largo milk ' consignment for. the Empire City's population, and farther up. the line there are several farmers who are making goo^' incomes from this especia.l branch of the industry. : At .' Dalefield, for' instance, there' are four ■ or five practical dairyfarmers who milk their hords all the year round. They corfsign their winter supplies to Wellington'at a fairly big profit—-from 83 to'so per cent, more than they receive from any other'outlet.
