FATAL EXPLOSION IN A BLAST FURNACE. London, August 31, ( An explosion in a blast furnace at East Ardsley, in Yorkshire, killed fivo persons and injured soven. SUNDAY CLOSING IN THE UNITED STATES. Haw York, August'3l. A threat by Mr. J. I*. Fort, Governor of New Jersey, to send militia to enforce Sunday closing, has caused the liquor-sellers of Atlantic City to comply with tho liquor laws.
