OPENING THE DAIRY SEASON.
COOD START FOR THE CHEESE FAGTORIES. The dairy season in tho Wairarapa practically openod yesterday morning (writes our Wairarapa correspondent). The morning was sovoi'ely cold, with a biting frost, but tho day broke fino : and beautiful as in midsummer. Milk carts streamed along all the roads leading,to tho several cheese factories, and in the faco of the general depression they wero a checrful sight. Thero was no special opening of tho season in the Bush Districts, which apparently aro nearly a fortnight later than the Wairarapa. • The Jlastertoh Butter < Factory is expected to open this weok. Tho New Zealand Farmers' Dairy Union's Butter Factory is •expected to be 111 good going order in about a fortnight's time. 1 Following aro- tho inilk supplies in gallons received at tho Wairarapa cheese factories:— Groytown, CSB gallons. Dalefield, 550 gallons. ' Parkvale, 420 gallons. Belvedere, 420 gallons. . Theso quantities show increases on those of last year's opening day, which, however, was in somo instances earlier in the season.
