Mr. W. G. lliddell, S.M., who has been relieving Mr. M'Carthy, S.M., at Napier, is expected to leave Napier to-morrow, and will probably resume his 'duties at the Magistrate's Court on Thursday. Tho Hon. Geo. Fowlds is to leave for tho South on Friday evening, next. Ho is to open a new technical school at Akaroa on Saturday, audi on Monday will open tho new Y.M.C.A. -.building in Christchurch. / Sergeant J. , Our Duncdin correspondent states that Capt. J. M. M'Kenzio, for many years in the service of the Union Company, died, on Saturday. In January of this year 'he was granted sick leave, and later on he resigned. Captain M'Kenzje. was appointed, fourth officer of the Hauroto in September, 1896, and becamo master of the Kittawa in March, 1007. In 1905, the Herald was bought by a Japanese firm, and Captain M'Kenzie took her to Japan. Ho was a, ship's carpenter for the Union Company before he - became an officer. '
