" : \ Petitioner, who was represented by Mr. Hiiidmarsh, stated, in evidence,; on the previous day, that she-was married tt respondent at Christchurch in 1899. ' They lived together subsequently in Wellington! and in Tasmania. : Two years'after the marriage, whilst they were residing in Tasmania, respondent deserted her. Her husbanj was a portrait painter and .a canvasser. :In .October," 1903, :sho applied for and was granted a; maintenance order. Respondent only'paid for .two or' three weeks. She had no.t .lieen nor heard of him since. In order that corroborative evidehco might be. obtained, the hearing was then adjourned. . \ • \ Jane Bortha Price, sister of the petitioner and Mrs. Rosina Hollis, now gave evidence in support of petitioner's statements.
