Our Palmerston North correspondent sends the following:interesting items of news:— - A - small-.but Very appreciative audience greeted Mr:., and Mrs. Albert Mallinson on Monday, 'ovening. \ Mrs. Mallinson was in excellent voice,'ar.d delighted everyone with tho variety iof . her ; songs. Several tea-parties have been given lately for Mrs. Le Cr'on, who has at last sufficiently recovered from her severe illness to be able to returnto her ■ home\iiii the South. .The last spring flotverjshow under the auspices of All Saints' Guild was held in the Agricultural Hall on 'tho A. and P. Show Ground on Thursday/-.. Now that Palmerston boasts a Horticultural Sofciety that body will in future hold tho bulb shows, so everyone concerned seemed determined that tho last guild show should bo a iccord ono. Tho weather was very unfavourable, but despito tho frequent showers'there'(ivas a very largo attendance both in the > afternoon, when Lady Plunkot- was present and much interested in all the exhibits, and alsoiat night, when tho great attraction wero somo old English dances very 'Prettily danced by twelve ladies with 4 la & % «#d in\ ' quaint oldfashioned'drosses.'". Both thi minuets and gavottes wero very effective, aid called forth much applause. Quito a feature of the show wore the sixteen decoratdd, fables, and tho decorated mantelpieces, which 'added much to tho attractive ..appearance of thp hall. Out of tho_ former J;:iP.. lanel ! came' first, whilo in tho mantelpieces a vert protty ono by Miss Edith Wilsoni'got the prize. Among thoso attending tho show were:—Mrs." Abraham, in navy blue witlrhat tb match; Mrs. Arthur Russell, in black, and with her Mrs. Studholmo in tailor-made costume'and black hat with bright blue feather; Miss Hewitt, in purple, and Mrs. Monro in greeh. Mrs. Harold Abraham had with her■' Miss Faerie Dcnniston (Duricdin).' . t.Mrs. Gorton (Bulls) is giving a ball early next month, at which her granddaughter, Miss Olga Levctt, will make her debut.
