Wilford) moved the following motions, in accordanco with notice :— . "That in view of tho proposed scheme for ; the conversion of the Hutt River, into a harbour for sliip- . ' ping, winch, includes ■ tho erection , . ,/.of. a. dock/, the acting-engineer of C" tho/.board.ihe authorised to obtain , , , r theengineers of the Hutt ' 'ltiver Board the details and estimates in connection with tho proposed work." "That in. view of the proposed scheme for tho conversion of tho Hutt River into a harbour for shipping, which includes tho erection of a dock, tho acting-engineer bo in- ■ structed to-<preparo estimates showing.. tho cost of reclamation from x •Ko.ro Rqro to the mouth of tho ' . Hutt River for tho information of v'rA the board, .and whether it would be , .feasible .;.t6*"'utilise tho river spoil, dredged, for reclamation pur- '; poses." Tho .Chairman said that, regarding a largo part of the land, the proposal of Mr. Laing:'Moason,; acting on behalf of tho Hutt River Board, "jouched"the property of the board, and it was'very necessary to tako the action die . proposed: ' ' E., seconded tho motions. Mr. M-'Bwan raised tho question as to whether the.- work; could be done legally by the Hutt RiVerjpoard. The schomo might .not be likely,, at tho present time, but it i was- one that should be kept specially in view." As to tho second motion,tho area to bo reclaimed was 297 acres,;cost-..ing.-.'about: acre.
