Shirley Hill, a prominent Auckland indent and custoilt-house agent, was attending a meeting at the office of . Messrs, Dufaur and Biss this afternoon when he became suddenly unwell. Medical aid was spught, but Mr. Hill expired in a feiv minutes. Christchurch, August' 26:. A middle-aged man named Thomas Speed Sibbald, well known in Dunediii and Christchurch, died suddenly ( in a restaurant tonight. ' ■«<' ;• i • SUICIDE. Christchurch, August 26. ■ An old-age pensioner., named Jorgensen committed suicide yesterday evening at Lo Bons Bay by hanging himself in an outhouse near bis residence. . ' •
A. SEAMAN DROWNED. > Auckland, August 26. James Barnett, A.8,-, who has-been boarding at the Sailors' Home, fell over the breastwork at Quay Street into the harbour this evening and was drowned.' The body has been recovered by the police. .- On August 20, during the voyage of the Tongariro from Capetown to Hobart, a boy named Howard Watt, six years of age, died from eutoritis, and was buried at sea. The boy's parents arrived by-tie .vessel.yesterday, and are booked for Napier. ENGINE CLEANER: .INJURED. ' A man named J. E. Elliott, employed l as a cleaner on tho Government Railways, slipped nnd fell whilst working on an engine at the Upper Ilutt yesterday,' and "was "reported to have broken his thigh.
