Christie, who is lecturing in the Wellington district-under the auspices of tho New Zealand section of tho Theosophical Society, has been appointed organiser to carry on tho work with Miss K. Browning, M.A. Miss Christie hails from Dunedin, where she is well known as a keen helper in tho various societies in that town. Mrs. von Zedlitz received in a frock of Wedgwood blue, opening over a cream lace vest. Mrs. Vivian Riddiford wore navy blue cloth and a'large hat of shot green and blue straw, with wings. During the afternoon Miss Elsie M'Tavish. sang several charming little songs. Among others present were: Mrs. Seymour Thome-George, Mrs. C. Others present .were Mrs. Findlay, Mrs. Baume, Mrs. Cecil Jones, Mrs. Samuel, Mrs. ' Fulton, 'Dr. Findlayj and Judge Sim. It was a. disappointment to many that Lady Plunket was unable to bo present. The commercial.faculty had a day out at Victoria College yesterday, when that chillylooking institutionj blossomed like a daffodil, not ; tb -say . a 'primrose. The ..happy idea had occurred t-o somoono that money could be made for tho " missionary society, in which many of the students'.are interested by selling flowers at a' price, so messages were sent to friends far afield, who responded generously with lavish gifts, of flowers. Everyone, student find professor alike, was urged to buy, and a brisk. and most profitable trade wan done.
