STAB CLUB'S ANNUAL REPORT. The Star Boating Club has just printed its forty-second annual report. This shows the receipts for tho year ended July 31, 19ns including .£lO9 13s. Id. balanco brought forward from last soason, as £757 ss. Id., and tho expenditure .£7lO 3s. 9d., leaving a Credit balance of ,£47 Is. 4d. Tho Club debentures, which now amount to .£295, have beon renewed for a further term of three years at 5 per cent. The total membership is now 39G, as against 383 last year, 51 new' members having been elected during the season. Tho threo new four-oared boats ordered last year, owing' to delay, did not reach Wellington at due date, and tho Club was put to tho extra expense o£ paying duty thereon under tho new Customs larifF, There was, however, every prospect of obtaining a .refund of duty paid in this instance. A new light pleasure boat has been purchased locally. An order for oars and sculls has been placed with Messrs. Ayling and Son, London,-and should reach Wellington oarly in the season. Tho thanks of the Club are accorded to Air. E. D. Bell for presenting the Club with ,£29 worth of debentures, and in addition a donation of ,£5 towards tho Club funds, also to' Mr. A. S. Biss for framed photographs. Thanks aro also made to Dr. H. J. Jl'Loan for his lecture on tho "Advantages derived from Rowing." The balance-shect shows .£59 won in prize money; £159 derived from subscriptions; and .£32 from locker; rent; also £5 by. donation. For now boats .£172 had been paid, which included freight duty and other expenses, ,£25 to Club races, swimming races, and coxswains as prizes; and .£Bl had been paid for regatta expenses. Tho liabilities of the Club include .£295 for debontures, and tho balance of assets over liabilities amount to ,£2242. Tho Club houso and plant are valued at ,£IOOO each. Tho subscriptions in arrear are JC2S.
