VENEZUELA.
DEMANDS OF THE NETHERLANDS. (by telegraph—press ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT.)' (Rec. August 24, 10.45 p.m.) The Haguo, August 24. Replying'to President Castro (of Venezuela) the Netherlands Government has emphasised its previous demand insisting on Venezuela rescinding the May decrees, which seriously injured trado between Venezuela and Curacao, in' the Dutch West Indies. The trade between Curacao, in the Dutch West Indies, has been hampered by Venezuela's arbitrary actions. In June a Venezuelan coastguard vesel stopped two Dutch sloops, the Marian ana Carmita, plying between Aruba and Curacao. The Venezuelan boat fired shots across the bows of tho sloops, and compelled them to proceed to La Vela de Coro, where thoy were detained two days, and all the letters on board that wore not in tho mailbags were seized. This took place on tho high seas. : 1 .
