"Is anything being dono regarding tho Charlotte Street deviation?" Councillor Fisher asked 'at tho meeting, of tho City Council last night. Tho Mayor replied that tho Council was waiting to receivo plans from tho Department. Replying to an inquiry of Councillor Luke, tho Mayor (the Hon. T. W. Hislop) stated at tho meeting of tho City Council last evening that he hoped that tho matter of tho projeeted tramway to Wadestown, with other proposals, would bo dealt with by the Finance Committee at its next meeting. A request has been made by the Brooklyn Municipal Electors' Association ' that tho Brooklyn car should bo run through to tho Government Railway Station, and that tho "through" faro be 2d. The City Council decided last night, on tho advice ■of tho Tramways Committee, that tho request cannot bp granted at present. Scarcely a week passes without someone forwarding conscience money to tho Government. This week twelve penny, stamps were sent to the Chief Inspector of Machinery, and the same is duly acknowledged by the Kcceivcr-Gencral (Mr. R, J. Collins).
