—❖ 'WANGANUI v. HAWKE'S BAY, (by telegram—rnESS association.) Wanganui, August 20. This afternoon the Wanganui hockey representative toam defeated Hawke's Bay by ono Coal to nil. Despite tho recent rain, the Recroation Ground was in good order, and a fast game was witnessed by nearly a thousand spectators. Tho local team commenced tho attack, but hard hitting on both sides kept the game open, and an interesting spell ended without score. In tho second' half Wanganui had rather tho advantage, but erratic- shooting prevented scoring, A good dribbling rush by Coo and Sharp, and a.pass to Thomson, resulted in the only score during tho game. Mr. Wakely refereed satisfactorily. THE WELLINGTON TOURNAMENT. Auckland, August 20. Owing to several of tho best players being unablo to get away the Auckland Ladies' Hockey Association this evening decided not to participate in tho big tournament commencing at Wellington on September 4.
