THE MISSING- SCHOONER SATAUA.. According to the "Sydney Morning Heraldi" the steamer South Australian, oil her return to Levuka, Fiji, from Wallis'and-Rotuma, re?orted that. on arrival at- Matautu, .Wallissla'ud, a 6mall schooner was observed lying at anchor. The Resident informed the captain that the vessel, had arrived at Wallis -somel short time before with four Wallis Islanders on board as crew. Their statement to the Resi-' dent was that the vessel, named .the Sataua, had parted her cable at'Apia,'Samoa, and had been blown out to sea. As they were unable to "beat back to Samoa'they came on with the wind in the hope of picking up Wallis Island,, which they'did. TRIAL TRIP OP THE ASTRAL. • The steamer Astral was taken on her trial trip at Sydney last week, and proved herself capable of doing over 9J knots per hour. The. Astral is a'scow-lrailt vessel, constructed specially by Messrs. Miles Bros., of Forster, fortho timber trade. She will carry about 50,000 ft. of hardwood on a draught of 6ft.' The machinery, which was-made by' Messrs. Aitchisonv' Blair, and Co M Ltd., of Clydebank Works, Glasgow, and installed by Messrs.
