. Tlio St. David's Church annual social was held in the Oddfellows' Hall, Petone, last night. An ( enjoyable programme ■of instrumental and ! vocal'music'Was rendered. Miss D.; Rash was heard to advantage in her. rendering of " ,'Tis I," and on being recalled she sang "Beloved Sleep" very acceptably. Mr. AVarren sang "Tho Trumpeter" (Dis), and for a recall he gave "Son of Mine" (Wallace). - Mr. Evans was very good in.'his. piece "Father Laid'the Carpet on the Stairs" and his recitations, "l'enny Pictorial" and "Tired" were well received. Mr. Warren was hoard to advantago in his two songs. The chairman (the Rev. Mr. Thomson) asked . for a vote of thanks for those ladies who had como from Wellington.?' This was given with applause. During tho interval refreshments were handed round by the ladies.

The Phoenix Lodge of Good Tomplars licld their weekly session on Monday evening at tho'. Lower'Hutt. The Lodge ivas opened in due form-by Bro. Winnie, C.T. After the usual business the Lodge went into harmony. Members of the Star of 'Wellington,' Star of Newtown,' and King's Coronation Lodges wore present from the city. Tho following contributed to the harmony: l Ovorturo, Bro. Boyd; songs bj; Bros. Ralpn, Creswell, Larabort; Shaw, Price, Trott, Boyd, Winnio, and recitations by Sisters Ralph, Seager, and Bro. Paris;
