Owing to lawlessness at Macroom, County Cork, oit'iliau officers refuso to act even under police escort. . Tho Master of the Rolls at Dublin (Right Hon. R. E. Meredith), in hearing an application' for substitution of service at Macroom, declined to transfer the danger of personal violence from the process-servor to the postman. Ho ordered the placarding of writs in tho police barracks nearest to tho residences of tho tenants concerned.

The Irish ought to show by a wise exorcise of their prasont powers that they aro worthy of larger powers. Then they, would win sympathy,' and, while tho bond of union would bo preserved and the supreme rights of the Crown willingly admitted, tho material interests of the country would .increase. A new Ireland would arise, a new spirit would come into the country, and its resources would bo developed.
