HOW TO GET RID OF ANTS.
Many women • who aro very fond of gardening bear quito a heavy grudge against ants, and probably may, be glad to hear of a method of destroying them, which is stated by' tho "Garden" to bo effective. As it is usually undesirable to romovo tho plant or plants where tho ants' nost is, the troublesomo insects may bo trapped by taking, a good-sized garden pot, stop up tho hole at the half fill it with leaves, and placo its bottom upwards on tho ground close to tho plant; then water the plant copiously every day so as to keep tho soil thoroughly saturated. The ants will Soon begin to move their nest to tiro shelter of tho pot, which in a fortnight's time may bo taken carefully, away, when it will bo found to contain tho nest. Ants do not feed on tho roots of plants as some persons imagine, but thoy do injury by preventing tho roots from being in close contact with tho soil. The insects are gonorally found to bo after the aphides which attack thrf roots.
