WAIRARAPA NOTES.
. Oho of tlie reasons why the' "Wairarapa languishes for population, writoa our correspondent, is that, its rivers are not bridged enough. The proof-of this statement is furnished-by a comparison between the number of bridges over the Ruamahanga River in ■ the "Wairarapa and the Ilangatainoka River in the Bush Districts. The Jftuamahanga is bridged about soven times in a distanco of sixty odd miles, while the Mangatainoka River has ten bridges in less than a distance of forty milesj • Thoro is a large- amount of land being broken up at present in tho "Wairarapa, much more than was apparent last year, and tho IHtsh Districts farmers seem also to be going in somewhat extensively into agriculture, compared with previous years. Tho absonco of very wot soured areas under plough is very noticeable in tho South "Wairarapa, showing in many instances a thorough system of drainage.
