—9 LADY GUINESS'S TROPHY. ■ SUCCESS OF A NEW ZEALAND CADET. A cablegram received from London by Lieut.-Colonel Loveday,- Officer Commanding the New Zealand Public School Cadets, states that Col.-Sorgeant W. Friar, of the Onehunga District High' School Cadets, who was sent to England by the New Zealand Government to represent the Dominion in tile, Imperial schoolboys' riflo match for Lady Giiinness's trophy, fired at Bisley, finished second in a long list of competitors, who came from all parts of the Empire. The young marksman's previous successes with the rifle in New Zealand, coupled with his latest achievement, point to a distinguished career in the future. Ho has won a gold medal for skill in marksmanship ■ in New Zealand, and on Wo separate, occasions ho headed the list in competition with marksmen of experience and ability. The young shot is a son of Mr. Matthew Friar, "of Auckland.
