SPECIAL ORDER,

SURRENDER OF LAMBTON LEASES. Tho next, ordinary meeting of tho. City Council, to be held on Thursday next, will bo preceded by a spccial meeting, at which tho following resolution respecting tho city lands will bo considered: —

" The Wellington City Council hereby resolves, by way of Spccial Order pursuant to, rind in exercise of, tho powers vested ,in it by the provisions of The Municipal Cor-, porations Act, 1900, and its amendments and in pursuance of and in exercise of all other powers enabling it in that behalf as follows:—

"1. To accept a surrender of the following existing leases:—

[a) Lease now vested in William Harold Sefton Moorhouse, of Wellington, solicitor, dated January 15, 1873, Registered No. 23237, being' a lease of Section 57 A on. tho plan of the land described oh the first schedule to "Tho Wellington Reclaimed Land Act, 1871." (b) Lease .dated Juno 5, 1905, registered number, 91090, made between tho Corporation of tho one part, and John William Abbott, merchant, Robert Thorburn Turnbull, electrical engineer, William • Hughes Field, solicitor, Arthur Percival Buller, solicitor, • and Augustus Samuel Biss, accountant, all of tho City of Wellington of tho other part; being a lease of Section 59 A on the said plan of the land described in tho "Wellington Reclaimed Land Act, 1871, which lease is now vested in the said William Harold Sefton Moorhouse, subject to a sub-lease as to a strip of the said sefction five feet four inches

wido along tho eastern boundary of tho said section, and extending back from Panama' Street a distance of .forty foot-, granted by tho said William Harold'Sefton Moorhouse to himself and Ernest Fred-

eric Hadfield, ■of Wellington, >• solicitor, as tenants in common. 1 " 2. To grant to tho said William Harold Sefton Moorhouse and 'Ernest Frederick Hadfield in lieu of tho said respective leases tho: following leases:—

(a) In lieu of tho said leaso -Registered No. 23237 a'new lease of. tho land thereby demised for tho period of the term granted by that lease' which shall be unexpired from October 11908 at a' yearly'rental of £96 and containing provisions for perpetual ronowals for successive .periods of 14 years at a ground'rent to be fixed by valuation, and containing a covenant that tho lessees will within two years of the dato of getting such new lease commenco the erection of a building of-brick or concrete, ro-inforced concrete, or ferroconcrete, on tho land comprised in such new leaso and in _ tho new lease of tho strip of land mentioned in the next paragraph. Such building' to bo uniform with the building lately .■ erected by tho said William Harold> Sefton Moorhouse on part of Section 59 A aforesaid, (b) In lieu of and in part exchange for tho surrender of the said lease registered as No. 91090 a new lease of part of tho land thereby demised for tho portion of the term granted by that leaso which shall bo unexpired at the timo. from October 1 1908. Such leaso to bo made ,to tho said William Harold Sefton Moorhouso and Ernest Frederic Hadficld as tenants in common in equal shares of the oblong strip of land five feet four inches frontage'to Panama Street by a depth of forty feet situate, at the north-eastern corner of tho said Section 59 A so sub-leased as aforesaid at a yearly rental of £14 until July 1 1914 and thereafter at a ' ground rent to bo fixed by valuation. Containing provisions for t perpetual renowals for successive periods of 14 years at a ground rent to be fixed by valuation and containing tho same _ covenant to build as hereinbefore mentioned, and also a covenant by the lessees that in caso from any causo what-! soever the leaso to bo granted as aforesaid of Section 57 A shall be terminated that tho lessees will forthwith surrender tho leaso of this part of Section 59 A. (c) In lieu of and in further exchange for tho surrender of the said leaso. Registered No. 91090, a now leaso bo granted to the said William Harold: Sefton Moorhouso of tho balance of tho land thereby demised for >the por.tion .of tho torm granted, by that lease which shall bri unexpired from October 1 1908 at a yearly rental of £70 until the first day of July, 1914,. and at a ground rental to bo fixed by valuation such rentals to bo payablo half-yoarly in advance • containing, provisions; for perpetual renewals for successive periods of. 14 years at a ground rent to bo fixed by valuation and containing a provision that tho lessees will not at any timo construct any building or orection over the oblong space of: twenty feet by fivo feet, starting from tho souh-wes't corner of Section 57 A and running in a southerly' direction twenty feet along tho eastern boundary of Section 59 A, thence at right angles in a westerly 1 direction fivo feet, thence in a northerly direction parallol to the said boundary of Section 59 A a distanco of twenty feet, thonco at right angles a distanco of fivo feet to tho commencing point.
