Tho', following are the principal items of the report of the City Electrical Engineer (Mrl Stuart Richardson) on. the • tramways" for the four weeks ended July 21, presented to the meeting of the Tramway Committee'yesterday:—'- ... The total revenue for the foui; weeks ended July 21 amounted to £10,100, an increase of £1364 as compared with the corresponding period of last year. The working expenses amounted/to £6857, an increase of £512. The excess of revenue over working expenses amounted .to £3242, or £851 more than last year. ' Comparing the returns for sixteen weeks from April 1 to July 21 with last year, the total revenjie amounted to £41,098, or £5713 more than last year. The working expenses for the saiie period /amounted to £27,907, an increase of £4099; After providing for estimated proportion of interest, sinking fund, and depreciation, the net, surplus for the. sixteen : weekp amounted >to £1167,' or £851 better, than.last'year.'; Passengers..,: . > . During the four weeks,, 1,593,0il passengers were carried,-an increase of 195,659 on last year's figures. The busiest' day on the , cars .was Saturday, June 27; the date of the second test match, when 81,943 passengers "were carried, representing a revenue of. £514 19s. 7d. Sunday.traffic varied from 24,459. on July 19 to 32,720 on June 28. Traffic en the Different Routes.
